still working out a few more kinks. closer though. had to do something opposite to my standard creative process for my first week’s HW. So I opted for simplicity, or trying to maintain some degree of cohesion without editing my original idea through a very basic structure. to some degree, at least.
(we can blame the fact that I’ve been all hopped up on vicodin this week that “simplicity” somehow turned into some form of cool island song.)
escape at your leisure (tentative) 13/52
elise considers it
a contract half inspired by her want
to want you out of her song
to get on
all you do is wonder
why you don’t float away
you cast off
these weights
no anchors left to these walls, these streets, this grey
once
upon a
fractured morning
I can swear the daylight spoke to me
it said when
you change through your countenance
as often as your clothes
you can’t count on your temperament
that’s all they’ll know
you get so lost in these compliments
oh.
I’ve been slacking. New one. 10/52.
something gravitational -
so you’re just getting sick
under all you’re burying at home
you didn’t plan for this
blindly placing all of your
faith in the great chain
to lead you on
till the next thing pulls you in
something gravitational
only making sense for the things you crave
the words you save
and the bells and this city
a new challenger approaches and
are they friend or foe
or just one of those black holes
that takes in everything
without giving back
you take in everything
just to feel
(or see how it’s supposed to feel)
It probably bears mentioning that prior to this moment I’ve never really played drums. That being said, color me pleasantly surprised.
he didn’t plan to stay
before you started
suddenly his legs didn’t agree
but such
conversations hang themselves
and these
circumstances
will never quite repeat
there’s a pattern to your innocence
that you
refuse to stop and see
destroying everything it contacts
while the sidelines watch helplessly
Hopeless - originally performed by The Wrens. (Remixed)
One of my favorite albums/songs/bands of all time. Also commuted something like 4 hours each way for three songwriting lessons from Charles (Lead guitar/songwriter).
Which while I didn’t actually accomplish as much as I should have, were absolutely some of my favorite moments on this planet nonetheless.
