I got bored today and this was the byproduct.  Forever avoiding homework.

an arrangement of The Company Dime - oneofmyfavoritesongsofalltime originally written by The Get Up Kids

(Arrangement in the sense that I transcribed this version from memory and went somewhat crazy with melodica effects in post.  I reserve all rights to hate parts of this in the morning.)

(… I did warn someone about letting me have one.)

In lieu of new shiny things

which have mostly been put on hiatus due to my attempts to rescue my currently about-to-careen-off-a-mountainside life (more to come on that soon-esque.)

I have rescued some older, more well-worn highlighty things from a past hard-drive and the limitations of tumblr’s media storage.  I’ll most likely be revolving some of these earlier covers through my soundcloud page before removing them from the face of the planet in the distant (but not too distant) future.   Get ‘em, and love them or hate them whilst they are still there and stuff.

(or just ask me politely later.  or even better, come see me play them in person when I possess the ability to start that whole shabazz up again)

Also been working on some re-recordings of some earlier material, so keep an eye out for those should it strike your fancy.  Still have my first EP (and most of) the second EP demo’s up for downloading.

Anyhowser, on to the things!

Turn a Square - (Shins Cover)

The Wagon - (Dino Jr. Cover)

Holly Hox Forget Me Nots - (Saves the Day Cover)

Built-in Girls - (Wrens Cover)

Legionnaire’s Lament - (Decemberists Cover)

and some SUPER SRS renditions of

Queen Bitch - (Bowie Cover)

Never Tear Us Apart - (INXS Cover)

my current level of boredom knows no literal, figurative, or even magickal bounds.

so here’s to catching up on fixing things I haven’t been letting people listen to.

acoverof - June Showers originally written by Superchunk

Once upon a time, I dated a girl who in all seriousness told me in no uncertain terms that the Arcade Fire would save the world after winning a grammy on their own Arcade Fire owned music label.

The Indie Invasion had finally won, pop music was on the way out, and well-written songs crafted by bands in garages somewhere were winning the day.

Sadly there were not nearly enough faces or palms to adequately respond to such an absurd statement, so I just put on one of my favorite songs of all-time.  And thought it was quite appropriate.

(and now I figured out how to play it, so you all have to suffer.)

(who if you were for some reason previously living in a shoe or solely in the confines of pitchfork music reviews, are the owners/creators of merge records, and are one of the few major reasons why indie is even alive and part of the conversation to begin with.)
