might as well while I’m at it.
rescued this from a failed memory card a few weeks/months/? ago. Added some stuff. (but mostly some things.)
a guitar arrangement of A song for Kelly Huckaby - originally written by Death Cab for Cutie.
and half the reason I wanted to drive to California.
acoverof - June Showers originally written by Superchunk
Once upon a time, I dated a girl who in all seriousness told me in no uncertain terms that the Arcade Fire would save the world after winning a grammy on their own Arcade Fire owned music label.
The Indie Invasion had finally won, pop music was on the way out, and well-written songs crafted by bands in garages somewhere were winning the day.
Sadly there were not nearly enough faces or palms to adequately respond to such an absurd statement, so I just put on one of my favorite songs of all-time. And thought it was quite appropriate.
(and now I figured out how to play it, so you all have to suffer.)
(who if you were for some reason previously living in a shoe or solely in the confines of pitchfork music reviews, are the owners/creators of merge records, and are one of the few major reasons why indie is even alive and part of the conversation to begin with.)
attempt # 2 to illustrate to my various followers/other internet denizens the benefits of listening to Matt Pond Pa. (Especially the Green Fury or Measure.)
acoverof Measure 1 - originally written by Matt Pond Pa
I approve wholeheartedly of all submitted responses.
and barring some technical difficulties, i.e. 3 guitar strings, one numb hand, and two bleeding fingers later my inner perfectionist is satisfied enough with this take
Enjoy.
acoverof Distopian Dream Girl - originally written by Doug Martsch & Built to Spill.

strictly BYOF
(I’d post the title, but if you don’t figure it out/know the words by the opening lines, you need to brush up on your 90s.)
(…plus you can always cheat and check the tags)
EARLY MORNING REQUEST ALERT
acoverof Photobooth - originally written by Ben Gibbard c/o Death Cab
(my huff-and-puffing at the start is mostly due to my forgetting and subsequently fucking up the previous attempt, which I felt went a might better.)
acoverof Amputations - originally written by Death Cab For Cutie
one of my favorite early gibbard songs.
this may be the first smashing pumpkins song that I fell in love with off mellon collie. Which was not an easy feat, given how many times I fell in love with individual pieces of that album. (let alone the whole)
recorded a version of how I’ve covered it in those rare circumstances where I’ve played it in front of human beings.
acoverof Bodies - originally written by The Smashing Pumpkins.
My poor, cheap headphones and equally cheap laptop speakers do not seem to be able to convey correctly the amplitude of my vocal tracks.
or en ingles
I can’t tell if the vocals are too loud or not.
I await your humble enlightenment. (i.e. translates - TELL ME, YO.)
but hey, I’ve been threatening this one for a while now.
acoverof Combat Baby - originally written by Metric
I know these are from a while back and I’m not much of one for tooting my own proverbial horn and what not
but even I was a bit impressed these both turned out as accidentally well as they did.
FINE
