I have either been lax in my musical postings as of late, or busy re-evaluating my methods of creation & distribution.  I have yet to really decide which one.  Either way, my sincerest apologies Internet.  Life is messy, and motivation not always plentiful, but I’m trying to work on not letting that constantly derail things.

So here’s a little what-have-you I came up with a few weeks ago while in the park, and if you’re into such things I do ever so hope you enjoy it.

Regardless, if you’ve ever taken the time to listen to my attempts to discover my own voice or to establish a process from a vacuum, Thanks.   It really means the world.  And I may have said it before, but I  truly hope to have something a little more tangible for you this year.

So here’s a simple solvent - (Feat. robots.)

(And, my dear lady was kind enough to lend me the use of her fancy computer so I’m not relegated to sounding like I’m performing inside of a wind factory.)

Because yay, I have my 8-track again!

And I get to play with my sm-57 and say goodbye to a bunch of pointless background  air.  A full Huzzah is in order.

A comfortable Plea - of-the-non-iphone/cheapwebcam variety

will most likely re-record post LA because this take ended up being slower than I’d like at points, (and I had to frankenstein the ending, but not like you need to know that…wait.) but das ok.

1 note   -  17 January 2013

First song of the year. Iphone demo style.

Still trying to figure out which ending I prefer, but going with this version today because of reasons. Don’t be afraid to Challah if you’d like to hear the other ending, just include an email address.

Really looking forward to doing a full recording of this upon my return and/or purchasing of fancy attachments to let me use decent mics on my iphone.

Stoked.  Hope you like.

(Thanks for not ending the world, John Cusack.)

single-take via Iphone.

as I am now apparently writing a theme album about the upcoming robot vs. human conflicts.  And without further ado, (or any ado at all really) the tentatively titled -

Tetsuo-5 comes up with a plan for Battle (demo)

At least I won’t
forget to build myself again today
recount the bones
the muscles all come pulling into place
and what they want
is another harlequin to make them ok.
but we can beat them at their own games.

So don’t call it off.
we’ll make them sweat
they’ll rue the fucking day
they might’ve thought
we’d be better served by falling into place
with what they’ve wrought,
you think they’d acclimate to jackpot stakes
but they just wave.

They’ll tell you at least it’s something
Are you trying to sell it to me
or to yourself?
But you got a bigger thing coming,
and you’re not inclined to let it show
so the hell with you, we’re moving on.

When we last talked
I could’ve sworn you called me out by name
it doesn’t happen often
that’s why it stayed with me
with all the things you think are fast asleep
because they’re not on my sleeve.

but I swear I believe
in some things.

1 note   -  21 October 2012

Ideally, I had hoped to redo a louder, more back and forth vocally version of this with drums by this week, but I slacked on getting together with my drummers.  Keep an eye on the next week or so.

But fellow denizens of the Internet, I require your assistance.  Turning this in for an assignment for one of my political science pre-reqs, and I need at least 6 people to comment on “your reaction to the song and its message.”  (Personally, I’d be OK with a virtual hi-five or a fitting .gif, but you know those academic-y types.)

If you click on the link through to the song, or visit its home @ soundcloud, you can click on the blue bar underneath the song waveform, and leave me some love it’d be gratuitously appreciated.

Thanks in advance and stuff!

L: You promise expectations
Yeah, you promise to be blind
with an armor of excuses
you’re protected for a time

but you better get out,
before you’re caught up in something

we’re making no mistake,
you’re not the person you describe.
A blatant fabrication, they can see it in your eyes.

they don’t know what it is,
but there’s something about you.

so you’re taking it to bed with you
every single night
have you bought stock in your bullshit?
do you still put up a fight?

you better get out,
and tell them your story.
Another quivering crowd,
to sacrifice for some glory.

And you won’t even hesitate.

I will be filling myself with tacos and climbing mountainsides today to clear my head and finish this idea.

You might just manage to find me if you follow the echoes.

2 notes   -  26 April 2012

In lieu of new shiny things

which have mostly been put on hiatus due to my attempts to rescue my currently about-to-careen-off-a-mountainside life (more to come on that soon-esque.)

I have rescued some older, more well-worn highlighty things from a past hard-drive and the limitations of tumblr’s media storage.  I’ll most likely be revolving some of these earlier covers through my soundcloud page before removing them from the face of the planet in the distant (but not too distant) future.   Get ‘em, and love them or hate them whilst they are still there and stuff.

(or just ask me politely later.  or even better, come see me play them in person when I possess the ability to start that whole shabazz up again)

Also been working on some re-recordings of some earlier material, so keep an eye out for those should it strike your fancy.  Still have my first EP (and most of) the second EP demo’s up for downloading.

Anyhowser, on to the things!

Turn a Square - (Shins Cover)

The Wagon - (Dino Jr. Cover)

Holly Hox Forget Me Nots - (Saves the Day Cover)

Built-in Girls - (Wrens Cover)

Legionnaire’s Lament - (Decemberists Cover)

and some SUPER SRS renditions of

Queen Bitch - (Bowie Cover)

Never Tear Us Apart - (INXS Cover)

revising old things.  Updates soon.

the only quasi-political thing I’ve ever finished, and one of the first songs for this project.  fitting for this upcoming year.

Candidate (one of these things is not like the others) - re-recorded 4-17-12.  Full lyrics and download on soundcloud page.

an early morning stripped down folk thingy.

so before you lose your nerve

    from the tragedies you’ve heard

fall in love with your mistakes

make believe or make your case

whole notes need to seperate

from the lines and bars, slide off the page

far away from shaking hands

where someone else is making plans

so before you get all bent

on the shape of what he meant

getting caught is all we blame

   its giving gravity the reins

2 notes   -  12 April 2012

Fixed track to more listenable levels, removed a bunch of guitar and brought up vocals at the behest of some reoccurring advice.  (good?bad?eleven?  let me know.) *

I seem to have mis-indexed the last one o’ these.  Bad form.  (…I’ll make it up to you baby, I do so solemnly swear I will.)

t-Minus ten

maybe I can’t
believe that when
it starts
I’ll ever know.

bruised and allowed,
pinned hopes on vowels
to sleeves preoccupied themselves.

lost sight of these
forests through trees
wandering others’ roads.
can’t cry for help,
it calls itself.
As vultures circle overhead,

breathe and relax
your arms bend back
years spent on subtleties collapse

these elements
this common sense
will be the first to flee

at least all you’ll ever come between
your ends and all your means.

anything but
things you cannot
wait to be rid of

T-minus ten, it starts again taking potentials home with you
I get not to admit I saw or feel you in my bones.

oh, I do believe, that you started clean, than you started clean.
some new company, that we kept so we wouldn’t get so mean.

repeat ch.

As always, free to download from my soundcloud.

redux.  fixed the chorus to be a bit catchier.

most likely the version I’ll be recording today and playing out tomorrow evening.

bored and near berkeley?  holla for details and come say hello.

contender.

a song about love and doomsday.

oh, and this.

Today’s project.  very un-acousticly acoustic.  to go full band plus transitions?  hrm.

time to start making craigslist posts for more instruments.

so you’ve had your fun.

in search of the perfect release

but the worst still comes

from your appendix and indices

and awkward wants

that are showing no

signs of even slightly slowing

Oh, you cautious ones.

in bed with the same old streets

while your heads have gone

lost in maps and telemetry

and those awful songs

that seem to follow wherever you go

guarding our sleep

preserving your dreams

forcing your visions in front of me

your collapsed inter states

will herald new days

if you can begin to separate

calling out your name

only the quiet ones x2

figure out the frame

only the quiet ones x2
